They did evil right in the sight of the Lord, and they served their own gods, and they forsook the Lord, who brought them out of captivity from other religions. But they went back to their old habits and followed other gods and ignored the Lord and His commandments. Thus, in doing so, they provoked the Lord.
They forsook the Lord and served Baal and the Ashtoreths. And the anger of the Lord was hot against them. So they were delivered into the hands of plunderers who despoiled them, and they were sold into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies.
THE HAND OF THE LORD WAS AGAINST THEM FOR CALAMITY, AS THE LORD HAD SAID, AND AS THE LORD HAD SWORN TO THEM. AND THEY WERE GREATLY DISTRESSED.
They have been warned. And the Lord spoken to them and even gave them specific details of what is coming to devour them if they fail to repent. But they chose to put on deaf ears and to turn to their false prophets instead, listening to their fables, false hopes and empty promises of peace.
