KOTA KINABALU: Hundreds of staff from various government agencies at Wisma Dang Bandang rushed out of the premises after tremors rocked the building this afternoon.
The tremors reportedly occurred about 3.30pm, prompting all workers involved to immediately evacuate the building.
It was understood that the tremors also led to the collapse of a ceiling in a meeting room on the 11th floor.
Government agencies stationed in the building include the Information Department, Meteorology Department, National Anti-Drug Agency and the Immigration Department.
No injuries or fatalities have been reported in the incident so far.
A spokesman for the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre said they received a notification regarding the incident at 3.32pm.
Following that, the public were instructed to gather at a safe place in the yard of the building while monitoring work was carried out.
“According to reports received, there were two tremors a few seconds apart.
“We were informed that the first tremor was stronger than the second,” he said.
