The Malaysian Health Ministry yesterday recorded a daily total 26,534 new infection cases. This brings us to the cumulative total of 3,872,135 cases, whereas active cases are at 304,148.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health’s Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, released the SEIR (susceptible-exposed-infectious-recovered) model of observed daily cases and forecast cases from 31st August 2021 to 30th March 2022. On a posting at the Ministry’s official Facebook page, he said that the observed daily cases have plateau and is beginning to show signs of coming down slowly, although we are not out of the woods yet.

The SEIR model also appears to be suggesting that unless new daily cases falls firmly below 20,000 by next month, Malaysia could be facing the possible risk of exponential rise in cases and as well as COVID related deaths.

Latest data extracted from the Government’s repository shows a weekly combined total of 191,182 new infection cases out of which 27,258 consist of unvaccinated individuals.

However, it is also noted that the daily deaths among Covid-positive individuals is climbing steadily, hovering close to an average of 100 cases daily, and this excludes death counts of people who died from other various reasons, other than being tested positive.
