No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

1 Corinthians 10:13

Temptation is that which moves us to sin. We can be tempted by our lusts, money, lack of self-examination, and the boastful pride of life, just to name a few.

When you are told to agree with lies and falsification, and you are threatened with termination or loss of opportunity. If you are in this position, your truth is being tested to see if it can withstand time. (Proverbs 12:19)

When you are forced to admit that you lied when you did not, otherwise you will be punished if you do not comply to the demands. In this situation, you are being tested like Joseph, when he was wickedly being accused of molesting Pothipar’s wife despite the fact that his hands were innocent. (Genesis 39)

When you are forced to sign documents to admit that the counter party is corruption-free, in order for wicked masters to secure their accreditation, you are like being asked to choose between the truth and their vanity, similar to Samson being coerced by Delilah when she betrayed him. (Judges 16:15-21)

When you have been implicated by the entire fleet of pastors and preachers in your town, that by choosing to do what is right, you are accused of acting in the interest of the devil. You are then in a similar situation as Christ when He did what was right to heal the sick and made the blind see again, but yet He was accused of driving evil out with evil. (Matthew 12:22-32)

When you have been accused of tormenting others and all you did was you demonstrated between what is right and wrong. And you started wondering yourself how on earth that anyone could have arrived at such conclusions; then you are similar to Christ Himself when He was asked by the demons why He came to torment them. (Matthew 8:29)

This is what it is like in a typical real life of a Bible believer, when put into temptation, when he is being tested by God, when God is checking whether he will remain faithful or will he choose the easy way out, and sin. Temptation is when one is being put to the test, having his reverence for God being examined.
