And likewise if we are capable of treating people we can see like that, what makes us think we cannot pull off similar stunts with the real God we cannot see, and demanding that He too should automatically forgive us, without reason?

Just as in without faith it is impossible to please God, likewise faith without works is worthless and void of Life. We can’t please God with anything that is lifeless.
